Not many people know how to get back from failure. Only a handful of resolute and uncompromising will rise again to build strength, success, and wealth in this entrepreneurship. This will cite some legendary story of a technology that is also an entrepreneur about how he rose from failure.

The person is the founders of Apple Inc. (Apple), Steve Jobs. Jobs, who died in May 2012 at the age of 56, hailed not only as the chief executive officer (CEO) who is successful, but the inventor is loaded with innovations. He spiked since he introduced the smart mobile phone, iPhone and tablet computer, iPad. But Jobs did not immediately successful. He is an entrepreneur that had fallen and wallows in bitterness. He was brilliant for being able to bounce back when some other entrepreneurs choose to succumb. In-depth, we should know more in detail how he fell or failed. Actually, the man who died of pancreatic cancer has been forging a failure as early as the teenage years when he was kicked out of his studies at Homestead High School, Cupertino, California in 1972. He then went to Reed College in Portland, but also suffered the same fate as early as the first semester.

            Jobs stride by setting up Apple in 1976 with Steve Wozniak, Mike Markkula, and others. In the same year, the company started selling the Apple computer called Apple create some excellence through its products, including Macintosh, despite stiff competition from IBM. At that time, Apple products are not user-friendly visits and were sold at a high price. Then in 1958, he was forced to resign and he built another company that is Next Computer which is later to be the Next software.

In 1996, Jobs returned to Apple to rescue the ailing company. Since then, the company continues expanding its varieties. However, it did not happen easily. Apple products are still not accepted by many around the world, except by those involved in the printing and graphics industry and animation but on Jobs' head, there is a 'pearl'. He was able to see the actual needs and requirements of users around the world. The climax was when this guy moves Apple introduced the iPhone smartphone, iPad subsequently causing the world stunned and most wanted products.

From a half bald head that was born and innovative high-tech products. With the surge in sales of new products, Apple has emerged as the second company after Exxon Mobile has the highest share in New York Stock Exchange. In certain circumstances, he reported to being too ambitious and sometimes unrealistic and can harm other people. In fact, Jobs are a real man who is not only innovative but always struggled to applications dreams and creativity without having to give up.

        This blog is created for assignment of SADE1013 Introduction of Entrepreneurship. We are from Group E which is guided this assignment by our beloved lecturer, Madam Saudah Binti Ahmad. She is a friendly lecturer who always interacts with her students. She is also an educated lecturer who always gives us a lot of knowledge. We are really enjoy with her lecture.          When doing this assignment, we get many new information that we didn't know before. It is a new experience for us. Besides, our relationship also become more closer. We always communicate with each other and exchange our ideas together.

          For selecting a successful entrepreneur figure based on examples of leaders who have been studied, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary is that researchers select the human on the basis of his success in becoming one of the richest local entrepreneurs in Malaysia. Name Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary, is very known and respected among Malaysians, especially the Malays because he was a figure of Malay entrepreneurs who have a love of wealth and welfare matters.  He was born in Alor Setar, Kedah in 1951 and is the third child of seven siblings, actually came from a disadvantaged background. The difficulties faced by him make he intended to change the pattern of family life by going into business.

         He is a private man who does not like to show off his luxurious life. He is easily approached by everyone. For him, status is not something vital in his life. There is a time when he is up and there is the time when he is down. Lifestyle is just like a disease for him that can Detroit people. He also a strong Muslim and always give charity with the sincere heart and even built mosques across the country. It shows his integrity and reliability traits.

         His hardship before is what make him today. He was able to be successful today thanks to the hardship of he and his family was in before.  A long time ago, he and his father sell grocery to their neighbors around their neighborhood. As a business grows, they increase from one state to the next, and they even imported cow from the neighboring country, Thailand to sell it in the local market. His down to earth and humbleness makes it easier for him to cooperate with another businessman from other races. He takes over a business that seems to fail and turn it around until he earns the profit.

            There is no secret for being a success. All of this comes from effort and hardworking of someone itself. It's the same as Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary as he working so hard to stand where he is now. He's just a normal human being that was created by god but what makes him different from us is his way of getting mature. He believes that there is no shortcut for success. He has nothing in the beginning but he's success to make his name big today and also a wealthy entrepreneur.

Based on our example of an entrepreneur, we have described five traits of entrepreneurial that he demonstrates as an entrepreneur that assist he to be successful in their venture.

Proactive

Proactive means the ability to see what we can do and struggle to get and make it true. This is one of the good habits that we can describe Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar. He very smart to use any initiative that he has. For an example, he was taking an initiative to repair our national mosque which is the most visited placed in Malaysia by the traveler. He was making it more cheerful and luminous. Based on what he have done, automatically our social community will know him very well and at the same time promoted him and also his company or product.

Observant

Entrepreneur in this 21st century must grab any chance and also know how to analysis, formulates and take and action towards any chance that they have. Based on Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar al-Bukhary, he is very smart in to take an action and grab the chance that he have. For example, he has included himself in the project of privatisation Johor Port Sdn. Bhd. and Johor Tenggara Oil Palm Sdn. Bhd.

A trough of Johor Port Sdn. Bhd., he was involved in Tanjung Pelepas Port project. He have success to show or introduce that port and also was attract two international shipping company, which is Maersk Sealand from Denmark and Evergreen Marine from Taiwan to move from Singapore to Tanjung Pelepas , On this side, we can see Tan Sri Mokhtar is someone who has capable to see any chance and know to arrange the future. Other than that, Tan Sri Mokhtar has put his abilities in every company that have a potential to get profit. For an example, he has invested in popular rice company, BERNAS. His ability to see the chance in every company is his key to success until he declares to be among the richest in Malaysia.

A failure is an option

Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary is a person that does not know how to give up and always learn from his mistake. He is also a careful and responsible person in doing what he had to do. He always said the wealth that we get should come from responsible and the wealth that we get, no matter how small it is, should be used for good reason. His personality that does not know how to give up in any situation make him the idol for young entrepreneurs that want to be like him.

When the farming business run by his father failed, he did not give up but being more energetic to open a new business that is selling back the meats to the local buyers and restaurateurs around Alor Setar. Starting from that, there is no sense of failure in his life. For him, there is no failure in his life because every failure must have ways behind that.  When facing a problem, he always being proactive, calm and smart to find the solution for his problem. He also will make sure that the problems that he obtained faced immediately and he thought that every problem has a solution and-and it can be a deal by having patience and calm inside.

Visionary

Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary has the vision to improve the living standard of himself and his family. Patience and perseverance through various obstacles become the main reason for him to success. He always keeps himself in a vision to help local people although he is already successful to be the catalyst for him to continue working hard to earn more assets.

He also always looks forward and takes no interest in his failure. His vision is to help others using the wealth that he gets and because of that, he's working hard to make sure that his vision will come true. He represents Malays generation that is able to lead several conglomerate businesses that most of them have been successful.

His success can be measure when he successfully got 90% of Seaport Terminal (Johor) Sdn. Bhd. In 1993, the Seaport Terminal (Johor) gets the mega project and have been giving the concession to build and operate Tanjung Pelepas Port (PTP) that make him the biggest shareholder in that company.

He will focus more on a business at a time until it gets successful overall and beneficial to the public. Next, he will venture new business and will do the business until it gets stable and successful. Although facing failure, he will rise again and find the new way to improve his mistakes to achieve its vision.

 Open risk taker

Risk refers to the uncertainty in decision-making and the impact that the decision make has to bear. He was a bold first move in the commodity business with only rice and then expand its business into other commodities, namely sugar through Bukhari Sdn. Bhd. and he does not have a lot of knowledge about it. Later, he went on to establish Bukhari (KL) Sdn. Bhd. for the contract to supply rice, tea, ghee, powdered milk and chocolate from the government. Certain extent through his courageous efforts in taking the risk of going into business has paid off so much that he can diversify his business selling without a need to rely on business revenues only.

TEAM ORIENTED, RIZMAN and RUZAINI

Team oriented is one of the keys to be a successful entrepreneur. Merriam-Webster Dictionary has defined that a team is a group of people who work together or else a number of persons associated together in work or activity.  Oriented was defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary is interested in a particular thing or activity. Team oriented is defined as a partner or team teaching. When we work in a team, we will gain more idea to achieve goals. Team oriented is essential for entrepreneurs to become more famous in their business and earn fast income.

Entrepreneurs must build a team to combine their skills together. This will make their business expand faster than one entrepreneur. By doing a work together, we can realize that we can get the best ideas from team members. So that, this will improve our knowledge in business. In this trait, Rizman and Ruzaini were chosen as a team oriented. Both of them was famously known as Rizman Ruzaini. They are the very famous fashion designer in Malaysia. Rizman and Ruzaini were started their work together since they were studied at UiTM, Shah Alam. Both of them were in the same courses which are Bachelor of Fashion Design.

         As we know, to become a successful entrepreneur is not easy as a pie. We need to differ than other in our business. Rizman and Ruzaini were known as successful entrepreneurs when they work together to create the latest and up to date fashion occasionally. Their design was unique and got much positive feedback from their customers. Their designs were branded and many popular artists love to wear their design. This situation makes their business become more popular and more well-known.

Rizman and Ruzaini become a very successful partner in their business. By working as a team, they always try to give the best design for their customers. They become more successful entrepreneurs when they were awarded as Popular Designer Award. Therefore, Rizman and Ruzaini are now becoming one of the most wanted designers in the local fashion industry. Their designs not only wear by artists but also by VVIP's and royalties from Selangor, Terengganu and Pahang. This shows that they got believing from their customers to designs creatively. When working as a team, they always share information and solve the problem together. This will make them become more talent in their fashion design.

As a conclusion, team oriented is very important to entrepreneurs who wants to expand their business promptly. As a team, every certain thing that was planned together can be done clearly without confronting any problems. Rizman and Ruzaini were one of the entrepreneurs that hit to work as a team. This shows that work as a team can make a successful business in future.

OPEN RISK TAKER, DATO' SERI VIDA

Dato' Dr Hasmiza Othman was a founder of Vida Beauty cosmetic products. She began to venture into this after taking the decision to sacrifice her career as a teacher. She is one of the instructors at Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Poi Lam, Ipoh, Perak. She began to grow the products around the state with the highest quality of the products produced in Malaysia. In relation to that, she was born in Kelantan and has been in this business for almost 16 years. Her educational background began with a Bachelor of Education and the Department of Business at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. Later, she continued his studies until the PHD in the Department of Biology at the University Charles Molnar, Hungary. Dato' Dr. Hasmiza Othman is a billionaire entrepreneur and successful woman who have hundreds of workers.

Vida Beauty

The open risk taker is also one of the entrepreneurial traits belonging to her. These characteristics are very important for an entrepreneur to be successful especially in business, we should have the courage in taking a risk in the future. This can be seen when she formed Vida Beauty Sdn. Bhd. on a small scale on 1 December 2006. In connection with that, Vida Beauty has begun to expand its widely on 1 May 2008. This clearly proves that she is a risk taker and always think positively in developing her business in the future. Dato' Vida also have a tag line like "Qu Puteh, Qu Puteh Barulah Puteh". This tag line made her products well known by people. Thus, indirectly, the company has grown extensively in the construction of this Vida Beauty. In addition, the color theme used to introduce or to market products to consumers also play an important role in advancing the company. Thus, with this approach, the company Vida Beauty itself has got a very favorable result of the encouragement and support of all employees. This clearly shows that he was the courageous risk. Besides, Dato' Vida also take the risk by sponsoring entertainment show like Ceria Popstar and Gegar Vaganza.

PROACTIVE, TAN SRI LOH BOON SIEW

Proactive means to anticipate a positive attitude and do an action much earlier than the occurrence of something that originally did require such action. The proactive leader also has the initiative and will make wise decisions and is responsible for the decision.

For example, Tan Sri Dato' Loh Boon Siew is a proactive entrepreneur. In the 1980s, that motorcycles are on the roads is nearly 70% Boon Siew Honda model. The key to its success is that he is always a farsighted and able to anticipate and always ready even though he was illiterate and cannot read.

When he was 18, he was keen to run their own business and are always thinking of ways to get the chance. He used the money saved to buy some equipment valued at RM 10 and 8 buses costing £ 200 to be repaired and used as a passenger bus. These buses lead to good results and he keeps every advantage to make the capital, he has 40 buses and set up shop as well as spare vehicle battery in as little as 7 years.

During his visit to Osaka, Japan in 1954, he saw a small motorcycle that feels appropriate to be brought into Malaysia. He is willing to pursue the motorcycle involved to see more closely the characteristics of motorcycles involved because he thought the motorcycle Honda is suitable for use by the public because of their small size and light weight suitable for Asians on average smaller than the motorcycle made Europe.

Therefore, he has managed to become the sole distributor of Honda motorcycles in Malaysia to be appointed by Honda Motor Japan Limited as he attempted to influence the manufacturers. He was a person who managed to put the Honda as the third largest vehicle sold in Malaysia since 3 years ago.

As a conclusion, he has managed to Tan Sri as a successful businessman because he has a proactive feature.

OPEN CULTURE, JIMMY CHOO

Open culture is about how to accepted and show the knowledge that you have to other to make something different that can give benefit. Actually, open culture is a concept of the knowledge that how it to expand and deployed to other. That mean as entrepreneurs we must have the character of open culture in the business transaction. It is because business is about how to exchange knowledge to something that reality for the community.

Jimmy Choo

Jimmy Choo is the person how has that character which is open culture. He is the best and famous entrepreneurs in Malaysia. His make a business which is more to fashion and handmade shoe. He got many of achievement at international level. He was born on 1961 in George Town, Pulau Pinang. Actually, his father job is a maker of a shoe. He was learning how to make shoe by his own hand from his father since he was 11 years old. Therefore, arise the interest in himself to become a fashion designer women's shoes. He trying so hard to make his dream come true.

To make sure, his dream come true, he has to face many challenges and study new thing. That the reason why he further his study at Cordwainers Technical College. He was among of the most outstanding students at that College, from where he earned his graduation in 1983. In order to fund his education, Choo does a work as a cleaner at restaurants on a part time to find side income.

Jimmy Choo is famous for shoes and handbags handmade that was so expensive. Among his clients are Natalie Imbruglia and Katie Holmes, and Princess Diana. The customer that make the name of Jimmy Choo become famous is the late Princess Diana that was pleased with his designs and then bought around 1990. Ever since that day, she immediately fell in love with Choo designs. In 1996, Jimmy Choo Ltd with Tamara Mellon, the editor of British Vogue makes a cooperation in business. After that, his business is show improvement and become a brand that is admired around the world.

In conclusion, Jimmy Choo practice the open culture in running his company. This can be evidenced when Jimmy Choo willing to emigrate from Malaysia to London to seek knowledge and do business in foreign countries.
